Administrator-in-Training hours

200 to 1,000 hours depending on your degree or experience

• 200 hours: 200-hour practicum with one or more years as a hospital administrator or assistant administrator, or two or more years as a director of nursing in a nursing facility (Minn. Rules 6400.6655).
• 500 hours: 500-hour practicum with two or more years as a department manager with supervisory duties, or in a qualifying role such as former assistant administrator, director of nurses, or housing manager.
• 1,000 hours: Standard 1,000-hour practicum for an applicant without qualifying management or health-facility experience. The practicum can be fully waived for one continuous year as an assistant administrator, chief executive officer, or equivalent leadership role with resident-care and administrative responsibilities.
